Department of Families, Fairness and Housing Student Scholarship Program 
The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) Student Scholarship Program (formerly the Department of Health and Human Services) assists young people living in public or community housing, or those at risk of homelessness, acquire the support they need to stay in school and achieve their full potential.

All VCAL courses offered at Kangan Institute.
Eligibility/ Selection Criteria
To be eligible for the DFFH Student Scholarship Program, the following criteria is required:

  1. under 21 years of age as at 1 February 2022
  2. an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  3. experiencing financial hardship
  4. living in social housing (i.e. public or community-managed housing) or at risk of homelessness
  5. studying in Year 11 or Year 12 at a Victorian Government school, or the equivalent at a Victorian TAFE (VCE or VCAL) for the 2022 academic year
  6. have the potential to achieve a good attendance record and a successful educational outcome in the 2022 academic year
  7. supported within the school/ TAFE by an appropriate staff member such as a well-being coordinator or counsellor
Scholarship Value
The Victorian Government funds the Student Scholarship Program to help young people stay engaged with education and complete years 11 and 12 (VCE or VCAL) at Government Secondary Schools or TAFE.

The program is administered by Kids Under Cover on behalf of the Department. It provides $1,100 (GST exclusive) for textbooks, computers or laptops, IT equipment, public transportation, uniform, and more.
How to Apply
Students cannot apply for this scholarship directly. A Kangan Institute welfare staff member must apply on your behalf, to ensure that this scholarship will be of benefit to you.

Applications for scholarships for the 2022 academic year are now open and close at midnight on Friday 25 June 2021.
